HSI applauds City of North Vancouver resolution to create bylaw banning shark fin trade

Humane Society International/Canada applauds the City of North Vancouver, British Columbia, for passing a recent motion to draft a bylaw to ban the possession, trade, sale and distribution of shark fin products in the municipality. The motion, also calls for a provincial ban on the trade in shark fins and a federal ban on the import of shark fins into Canada.

โ€œThe City of North Vancouver has taken a crucial step forward in opposing the cruel and ecologically devastating practice of shark finning,โ€ said Gabriel Wildgen, campaigner for Humane Society International/Canada. โ€œMore and more cities across Canada are joining the global movement to stop the trade in shark fins, which results in the deaths of tens of millions of each year.โ€
