The plastic shown here was mistaken for food when it was in search for prey at sea. Midway Atoll is home to the largest population of Laysan albatrosses in the world, as well as the second largest colony of black-footed albatrosses. Worldwide marine debris threatens a wide array of ocean wildlife who confuse trash for food or become entangled in it.
